Certificate of Safety Fitness
The 1st certificate is issued free of charge. If the certificate is lost, any issuer can do a re-print for a cost of $15. Place a photocopy of the original in all your vehicles and keep the original in a safe place.
Daily trip inspections
A daily trip inspection (pdf, 45 kb) is required when travelling within Saskatchewan and also on any farm vehicle travelling outside the province and through other jurisdictions with a RGVW of 4,500 kg or more.
Note: Two and 3-axle farm trucks are exempt.
Daily log books
When travelling outside the province and through other jurisdictions, any truck, tractor, trailer or any combination thereof that has a RGVW in excess of 4,500 kg is required to complete a daily log. For example, a half-ton truck towing a 2-axle trailer (total 4-axles) over 4,500 kg is required to complete and carry a daily logbook.
Note: Two and 3-axle farm vehicles are exempt and applies to trucks and tractors only. However, once a trailer is attached to the truck it is no longer exempt.
Any questions regarding daily logs and hours of service should be directed to Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure.
When travelling within Saskatchewan, vehicles registered in Class F are exempt from Hours of Service regulations.
