SGI offers tips to Big River customers dealing with vehicle hail damage
August 26, 2016
“A damaged vehicle can be a big inconvenience, and we know our customers want their vehicles repaired as quickly as possible. Reporting a claim online using eClaim is fast and easy,” said Penny McCune, Executive Vice-President of Claims and Salvage. “We encourage customers to report their claims as soon as possible – if there are higher-than-normal claim volumes, SGI will assign additional adjusters for the area.”
After you submit the claim online, an SGI adjuster will contact you to set up an appointment to assess the damage. While waiting to be contacted by an adjuster, you should take steps to protect your vehicle from further damage:
- Cover travel trailers with a tarp in case roof vents became brittle or the roof leaks.
- Cover broken windows with plastic and/or tape to prevent rain or debris from entering the vehicle.
- Don’t throw anything out. Store damaged items in a safe place so the adjuster can see them, or take photos and make a detailed list if items had to be disposed.
If you don’t have access to a computer to file your claim online, you can report a claim by calling SGI at 1-844-TLK-2SGI (1-844-855-2744) during regular office hours (Monday – Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) or by contacting your local motor licence issuer.
Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) is the province's self-sustaining auto insurance fund. SGI operates 21 claims centres and five salvage centres across Saskatchewan with a head office in Regina. SGI also works with a network of nearly 400 motor licence issuers across the province. Customers can now do some transactions online. Look for the MySGI link under Online Services on your motor licence issuer's website or SGI's website.
