Ding in the New Year with Saskatoon Transit and SGI
Dec. 11, 2013
Ding in the New Year and get home safely by taking the bus for free.
Saskatoon Transit Services and SGI have once again partnered to bring Saskatoon residents free Transit and Access Transit service on New Year's Eve as part of the annual “Ding in the New Year” initiative.
“Alcohol is among the top contributing factors in fatal collisions in Saskatchewan,” said Minister responsible for SGI Donna Harpauer. “SGI wants to make sure everyone has options for a safe ride home on New Year's Eve. This is why we're proud to continue our support for Ding in the New Year.”
The free bus service will run on Tuesday, December 31, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:45 a.m. (may vary slightly by route) on a weekday evening schedule.
“The best way to ensure the holiday is a happy one is to use services the City offers, such as Transit, to stay safe. This annual partnership between the City of Saskatoon and SGI is a great example of how the Province and the City can work together to provide residents with the services and infrastructure they need,” said His Worship Mayor Don Atchison.
“Ding in the New Year allows residents to enjoy their New Year's Eve celebrations responsibly without putting themselves or others at risk this holiday season,” says Bob Howe, Director of Saskatoon Transit. “We strongly encourage residents to use transit as a safe way to get home throughout the holiday season instead of driving under the influence. We want everyone to have a safe and happy holiday.”
