SGI issues Request for Proposals for new head office
Sept. 12, 2013
SGI has issued a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) to four companies regarding a new space for its head office.
The four companies were shortlisted after an evaluation of submissions to a Request for Expressions of Interest sent out late last year. In addition to building a new space, the RFP specifies that the bidders would buy the current head office building.
“Our head office is over 30 years old and in need of upgrades that can't be done while the building is occupied,” said SGI President and CEO Andrew Cartmell. “Moving to a new head office space would allow us to take advantage of lower operating costs, new workspace technologies and the ability to use space more efficiently, while at the same time giving the buyers of the current head office time to complete the necessary upgrades while the building is empty.”
Highlights of the RFP:
- SGI is seeking a space of 165,000 to 180,000 square feet in Regina's downtown.
- SGI would like a larger “footprint” compared to its current building, meaning fewer floors but more space on each floor.
- The new space must be built to a minimum of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standard.
The deadline for proposals is Dec. 17, 2013. The winning proposal is expected to be announced in mid-2014.
