Operation Crossroads results in 452 tickets

More than 450 tickets were handed out last week during a traffic safety blitz targeting intersection safety.
Operation Crossroads took place Aug. 21 and 22 province-wide, in conjunction with a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) event in Regina. Combined, these efforts resulted in a total of 452 tickets, including:
- 237 intersection violations and other various charges
- 100 speeding violations
- 70 seatbelt violations
- 37 cellphone violations
- 8 suspended driver charges
SGI car seat technicians participated in the STEP event once again to help ensure and promote child passenger safety. They checked 57 car and booster seats during the check stops and gave away eight car seats.
July’s province-wide blitz targeting pedestrian safety and seatbelt use, Operation Heads Up, Buckle Up, resulted in a total of 304 tickets, including 84 seatbelt violations.
Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) is the province's self-sustaining auto insurance fund. SGI operates 21 claims centres and five salvage centres across Saskatchewan with a head office in Regina. SGI also works with a network of over 400 motor licence issuers across the province.
