At this time, permits cannot be purchased online but must be obtained from a motor licence issuer.
Proof of identification will be required if you have never registered a vehicle in Saskatchewan and are not in our system.
There are 2 types of permits:
- 24-hour or 8-day permits - driven within Saskatchewan only
- in-transit permits - transport from Saskatchewan to another Canadian jurisdiction
Note: You will need to discuss requirements with a motor licence issuer for bringing a vehicle into Saskatchewan from another jurisdiction.
Proof of ownership
With all permits, you will be required to show your proof of ownership of the vehicle with the following:
- original bill of sale or lease agreement - new vehicles
- expired vehicle registration - previously registered vehicles
