Class F - Farm vehicles

Vehicles registered in Class F receive a farm class licence plate, or a farm plate for short.

Vehicles used for farm purposes are registered in Class F and include the following:

  • light trucks (1/4-ton, 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton and 1-ton units)
  • heavy trucks (units greater than 1 ton)
  • trailers
  • heavy vans (greater than 1 ton)
  • power units

These vehicles tend to travel fewer kilometres and are operated on roads where there's less traffic and fewer collisions. As a result, they generally have lower registration fees and insurance premiums. In order to purchase farm plates, eligibility requirements must be met.
