To register a new vehicle, the following is required:
- The vehicle's New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS) - The NVIS is available from the dealer. If they didn't provide it, be sure to ask for it as you can't register your vehicle without it.
- The vehicle's bill of sale. See a sample bill of sale (pdf, 12 kb).
Permits
If you buy a new vehicle from a dealer, the dealer can issue you a permit so you can drive the vehicle to a motor licence issuer for registration.
There are 2 types of permits that will give you insurance coverage, provided the vehicle is driven only in Saskatchewan, or only up to 16 km beyond the Saskatchewan border.
