New vehicles

If you buy a new vehicle from a dealer, the dealer can issue you a permit so you can drive the vehicle to a motor licence issuer for registration.

To register a new vehicle, the following is required:

1. The vehicle's New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS) - The NVIS is available from the dealer. If they didn't provide it, be sure to ask for it as you can't register your vehicle without it.
2. The vehicle's bill of sale. See a sample bill of sale (pdf, 12 kb).

Permits

There are 2 types of permits that will give you insurance coverage, provided the vehicle is driven only in Saskatchewan, or only up to 16 km beyond the Saskatchewan border.
