Licence restrictions

A driver's licence restriction is a limiting condition put on an individual's licence.

A driver's licence restriction is a limiting condition put on an individual's licence.

A - Glasses or contact lenses

Must wear prescribed glasses or contact lenses.

B - May not drive at night

'Night' means the period commencing one-half hour after sunset and ending one-half hour before sunrise.

C - 40 km radius of address

May only drive within a 40 km radius of address shown on licence.

D - 80 km radius of address

May only drive within a 80 km radius of address shown on licence.

E - Outside city limits

May only drive outside the limits of a city or in a city as a learner.

F - Rear-view mirrors

Must have two outside rear-view mirrors on vehicle.

G - Custom Restriction

Must present Detail Authority Card.

H - Three-wheeled cycles

Motorcycles are limited to 3-wheeled cycles, 2-wheeled as a learner.

J - Cycles under 50 cc's

Motorcycles are limited to cycles under 50 cc's, larger as a learner.

K - School bus capacity

School bus capacity is limited to under 36 passengers.

L - No Class 2 or 4 vehicles

May not operate Class 2 or 4 vehicles.

M - Class 1 to 3 with automatic transmission

Class 1 to 3 vehicles are limited to automatic/electronic shift transmission, standard transmission as a learner.

N - School bus with automatic transmission

May only drive school bus with automatic transmission.

T - No taxi

May not drive a taxi for hire.

W - Restricted Commercial Class (Canada only)

May only drive a commercial vehicle in Canada. Cannot operate a commercial vehicle in the United States.
