Commercial driver abstracts

Commercial driver abstracts (CDA) are required for Saskatchewan drivers that operate vehicles under the National Safety Code (NSC).

The CDA shows all collisions, convictions and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections that a driver has been involved in while operating a Saskatchewan-plated commercial vehicle.

It costs $10 to obtain a copy of your NSC commercial driver abstract, which also includes a copy of your personal Saskatchewan driver abstract. Both abstracts are a requirement of proper record keeping for carriers.

Driver abstract authorization

As a carrier, you can request a commercial driver abstract for 1 or more employed drivers with the Employer Authorization form (pdf, 442 kb). Commercial driver abstracts are issued for a minimum of 5 years; however, the option is available to request a longer period of time dating back to January 1995. It's the responsibility of the carrier to ensure that the driver's information is protected.

As a driver, you can request your driver abstract individually by submitting a personal Driver Abstract Request form (pdf, 348 kb).

Commercial driver abstracts may be obtained the same way as personal driver abstracts once the Employer Authorization form is completed as required.
