Six $2,500 scholarships are awarded each year - 2 to students in Saskatchewan, 1 in Alberta, 1 in Manitoba and 2 are reserved exclusively for diversity students, regardless of location (the other 4 are open to non-diversity and diversity candidates).
Recipients may receive only 1 SGI scholarship throughout their studies.
Criteria
To be eligible, a student must:
- be a resident of Saskatchewan, Alberta or Manitoba
- not be a legal dependant of an employee of SGI or its wholly owned subsidiaries (legal dependants of SGI employees are eligible for the SGI Anniversary Scholarships only)
- be enrolled full-time in a certificate, diploma, or degree program - related to the business needs of SGI - at an accredited post-secondary campus in Saskatchewan, Alberta or Manitoba. Business needs of SGI are defined broadly to include all aspects and departments in the corporation
- submit proof of enrolment in the fall semester of the current academic year
- submit a transcript demonstrating a minimum average of 70% in the last academic year of study
- demonstrate contribution to community, extracurricular activities or commitments made in balancing work, education and home responsibilities
Note: Children and dependants of SGI employees are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. They are invited to apply for the SGI Anniversary Scholarship which is exclusively for the children and dependants of SGI employees.
Value
6 scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded annually.

SGI will accept applications starting May 1. Applications are to be submitted by September 30 of each year. Students must provide proof of enrolment in the fall semester with their application.
Selection process
In early October, applications are reviewed against scholarship criteria. Those applicants who meet all of the criteria will have their names placed in a draw. Winners are notified by phone in early October.
Employment
SGI will not guarantee employment for award recipients; however we may give the recipients preferential consideration for employment following the completion of their studies, and/or for summer or co-op work terms.
Recipients are not obliged to work for SGI during, or at the completion of, the educational program.
