SGI puts Canada Post strike plan in place
June 2, 2011
SGI has a plan ready to ensure customer service is maintained in the event of a Canada Post service disruption.
“We will do our best to continue meeting our customers’ needs in the event of a postal strike,” said Andrew Cartmell, President and CEO of SGI. “While some minor disruptions are expected, customer service remains our top priority.”
SGI’s contigency plan during the postal strike is as follows:
Saskatchewan Auto Fund - driver’s licensing, vehicle registration and auto claims:
- Driver and vehicle renewals - visit any SGI issuer or branch office to renew your driver’s licence or vehicle registration if it is up for renewal, or renew your vehicle registration online using our MySGI service
- New driver’s licences and photo identification cards - these will be held until postal service resumes (temporary licences/identification cards are valid for up to 90 days)
- Customer claim payment cheques - your claims branch will contact you to arrange pick up or delivery of your cheque
- Payments - pay in person at any SGI motor licence issuer or branch office; some payments can also be made online using MySGI
Although some transactions are available through our online MySGI service, please note that items requested through MySGI, such as updated vehicle registrations, stickers and/or driver’s abstracts, will not be mailed until postal service resumes. If you require these items immediately, please visit your motor licence issuer.
SGI CANADA - home, auto extension, commercial and agro insurance:
- Policy renewals - visit your broker to renew your policy in person if it is up for renewal
- Customer claim payment cheques - your claims branch will contact you to arrange pick up or delivery of your cheque
- Refund cheques - visit your broker to pick up your cheque
- Payments - contact your broker to make payment arrangements
“It is important that customers check the expiry date on their driver’s licence, vehicle registration or any SGI CANADA policy they have and make arrangements to renew them, as the regular renewal reminders will not be sent out during the strike,” said Cartmell. “This will ensure their insurance coverage does not lapse.”
For more information, customers can call SGI’s Customer Service Centre at 1-800-667-6898. If the strike is extended, further updates will be posted on SGI’s website.
