Ding in the New Year this holiday season
Dec. 10, 2010
SGI wants you to bring the new year in with a ding - the distinctive ding you make to indicate your bus stop.
Revellers are invited to take advantage of the 'Ding in the New Year' program, which offers free bus service on New Year's Eve. For over 20 years SGI has offered this service to party-goers in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina or Saskatoon to ensure they have a safe ride home.
Free service begins in Regina at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 and runs until 3:15 a.m. See Regina's New Year's Eve bus schedule (pdf, 15.4 kb) for complete details. If you need help planning your bus route, check out Regina Transit's online Trip Planner or call 777-RIDE (7433).
Free Para-transit service is also available on New Year's Eve in all 4 cities. For more information about the Ding in the New Year transit program in other areas, please contact:
- Moose Jaw Transit - 694-4488
- Prince Albert Transit - 953-4900
- Saskatoon Transit - 975-3100
The need remains
Since its inception in 1988, more than 227,000 people across the province have taken advantage of the 'Ding in the New Year' program.
Last year in Saskatchewan during the holiday season alone, there were 4 deaths and 54 injuries as a result of an impaired driver.
Ensure that fun and festivities last all season long by always remembering to plan a safe ride home.
From everyone at SGI, have a safe and happy new year!
